New Jawbone 2 Review

Charging: I quickly connected the delicate device into the included charging cradle, making sure the charge light was activated. The Jawbone connects into his charger via magnet, with an "OK" fit. I love the way the charger is designed, to use USB or A/C power. The Quick-Start-Guide says it should take 50 minutes. Now the hard part, waiting for it to finish charging.

OK it finished charging, pairing was very easy. Pressed the main button on the Jawbone that turns it on [starts in pairing mode] and searched my cellphone [LG Viewty] for new devices. After finding "Jawbone", entered the "0000" password and bam - connected. Turning the Jawbone on / off is done with a 3 second hold of the main button, simple.
The Jawbone connected right away with my cellphone whenever I turned it on. Some other hands-free devices need you to manually connect via your cellphone at every use.
Usability: The Jawbone has two buttons, which each one handling a few actions. Both buttons invisible and built deep under the surface, so you need practice clicking aimlessly at a specific spot. The first is the main call / answer / hang-up button. The second, allows you to increase/decrease volume, but because it's one button, it cycles through the 6 volume levels. So if you are on level 4 volume and want to reduce to level 3, you'll need to click five times.
The second button also allows you to turn off / on the "NoiseAssasin" feature, by holding for 3 seconds. That's a nice way to hear the difference with the noise-cancelling feature, and without.

Design: The jawbone is very nicely designed. Very small and compact. When holding, it feels powerful and durable. The Jawbone's surface has a bumpy feel to it, the three-dimensional texture on the shield was inspired by noise abatement surfaces. Manufactured using premium materials including medical-grade plastic and fine leather gives the new Jawbone a very sleek look. For the first time, It's "almost" cool to wear a Bluetooth device.
Sound quality (incoming): Incoming sound quality is great - I can hear everything, volume is loud but quality deteriorates (crackling) with the high levels so I kept it in the middle (3rd level). There are 6 volume levels you can set, by using the secondary button. All the hands-free devices I've reviewed so far had crackily sound at high volume levels, so note that this is a standard Bluetooth problem.
Sound quality (outgoing): Did a few call tests [listen below]. I asked everybody I talked to how I sounded. Got no complaints and even was told I sounded as if in an empty room, which was never the case.
Jawbone Indoor Sound Test - Turned up the radio, TV, A/C, fans and the water in the sink. Made a test recorded call, couldn't hear any of those background noise while NoiseAssain was turned on. When turning off, you can hear the annoying sounds.

Battery Life: I've been using the Jawbone for almost a week already, it's still running on it's first charge, so that's great. I've been using it for 30-60 minutes talk time every day with another 5-6 hours standby per day, so that's cool.
- Talk Time: Over 4 hours
- Standby Time: Over 8 days
- Charge: 80% charge in 35 minutes, 100% charge in < 1 hour
Although the advertised time is only 4 hours, I've read it can last more [~6 hours or so].
Price: One of the more expensive headsets on the market today. The new Jawbone goes for around $120 at most stores. This high price will probably be reduced soon as the device ages (still a baby at 2 months). Most major products are always expensive during the first few months, so maybe you should wait it out.
Where to buy: You can get it officially from Aliph at $129.99, or online from JR.com at $119.99
Summary: So far, the best hands-free headset I've reviewed. Sound quality is great, noise cancelling features are amazing. Battery life a little on the low end, but still enough for most users. Sleek design gives Jawbone the "cool" factor, while keeping it professional for business uses.
If you can afford the Jawbone's $129 price tag, go for it full throttle, you won't regret it.
